Softwarehood.com website is founded by Ivan Radovanovic. In site maintenance and various projects development is involved around dozen other developers. Idea behind it is to be the place where software developers can find decent tools with affordable price. Such tools usually evolved from problems author needed to solve in his programmer's career and he couldn't find any satisfactory tool to help him (or such tools had higher price than they deserve).
Most tools presented on this site will have relatively low prices and it is their author's hope that they would be useful for many developers. Why not completely free? Well it is author's personal opinion that it would be better to pay some small fee for software you are using and to know that there is someone devoted to further development of it, than to get it for free and then (in case of any problems) to hope that developer will find some spare time (besides his/hers full time job) to fix problems for you.
However all tools will have their free counterparts with somehow limited functionality. If you are happy with this limited functionality you can use it completely free of charge for whatever time you want, on the other hand, if you are looking for full featured versions free versions can help you to really test product before giving any money for it.
No matter whether you decide to stay with free version or to buy full featured version there will be Support center available to you, and that would be the right place for you to ask any question about usage of tools offered on this site, as well as to post any comments, ideas or just to say hi :-)
